Andrew Blyth joined the band in September 2004 and was appointed bandmaster in October 2005. He is the Assistant Territorial Music Director for the Salvation Army's UK Territory and is responsible for the publication of music by the Salvation Army in the UK. In 2003 he was the editor for Kenneth Downie's European Championships test piece 'St. Magnus' and has had more than thirty of his own compositions published in the UK and overseas. He is also involved in the planning of various musical events throughout the territory.
Andrew was previously Leader of the Salvation Army's premier choral group, the International Staff Songsters, and was a member of the International Staff Band for over ten years. He has also been actively involved in Salvation Army music schools for a number of years and has undertaken leadership roles both in this country and abroad.
Away from work, Andrew has two children and his interests include football and cricket – but only watching!
